Roan’s introduction to the realm of design occurred through her artistry with beadwork—a logical move considering her lifelong passion for fashion. “As a little girl, I would rummage through my grandmother’s and aunties’ leftover fabrics to craft dresses, allowing my creativity to flourish,” Roan shares. “I would adorn my cousins and have them strut down the ‘runway’—a bridge—near my home.” Initially starting with beaded jewelry, Roan ultimately mastered sewing and apparel design; her enthusiasm for creation eventually led to the establishment of her own clothing brand, Osamuskwasis, which debuted in 2020. The collection embraces the concept of crafting joyful, vibrant garments—featuring exuberant patterns and floral designs. “I love using an abundance of color because it brings me joy,” Roan notes. “Color is a form of expression, and I have never felt sorrow upon witnessing a rainbow.”

Jewelry creator Elizabeth Hooper discovers beauty in all things, even those that may appear destructive, unattractive, or harsh. As a 45-year-old mother of two teenage daughters—Ava, 15, and Celia, 12—this same outlook extends to her parenting. Hooper tackles all aspects of her life with an authenticity that renders her a source of refreshing, often humor-tinged, insights regarding the balance of work, parenting, and creativity coexisting with reality. Her daring, sculptural pieces, some recently featured on Precious Lee for the April issue of British Vogue, underscore her cool demeanor and adaptability. Currently residing in Dallas, her irreverence both in demeanor and fashion is evident, neither taking herself nor the responsibilities of design and motherhood too heavily. Whether managing “everyday errands,” designing her nature-inspired pieces at her home office, or attending a gallery opening, she fully embraces style and self-expression: a shredded, cropped cardigan with jeweled buttons, towering goth platform boots, a sheer top with patchwork pants, anything goes. And why not? She exemplifies a mom, a woman, a creator, an entrepreneur who unapologetically believes that being oneself is the ultimate path.
